INNfestation

Cause chaos as a gooey menace in INNfestation! You play as a revenge-driven slime wreaking havoc in a tavern. Absorb furniture, slurp up enemies, and coat every corner with sticky slime as you fight your way through the tavern. Confront the cruel tavern owner at the end and claim the tavern as your own!

Summary

This game was created during a 2.5-day game jam organized by Digital Arts and Entertainment. We were a team of 10: 1 producer, 4 programmers, and 5 artists. The goal was to build a complete and playable game under tight time pressure while learning how to collaborate across disciplines.

My Role

I implemented core gameplay systems for the slime, including movement, absorbing objects, and handling player death. I also worked on the menu, win/lose conditions, and audio implementation such as sound effects and music.

Challenges & Highlights

The biggest challenge was delivering a finished game in under three days. Thanks to our upfront planning and having a dedicated producer, we were able to stay on track and avoid scope creep. For many of us, it was the first time working in such a large and mixed team. We quickly learned the value of clear communication between art and code too; one small misalignment could cost precious hours.

What I Learned

This project taught me how to collaborate in a large, fast-paced team. I saw first-hand how crucial it is to keep communication tight between programmers and artists, especially under strict deadlines. I came away with better teamwork skills and a stronger understanding of rapid prototyping in a jam setting.
